It's no secret that Black-led businesses and nonprofits lack equitable access to capital and institutional giving. As a public foundation with a mission like ours, we seek to leverage our philanthropic and community connections to disrupt this status quo. Between 2020 and 2021, MFCF received requests from nearly 100 minorities seeking financial support for their nonprofits and businesses. These requests went largely unfunded due to our limited resources. The data tells us, however, that the funds are out there. It became clear that our purpose is to serve as the liaison between the Donors & the Doers.
